A short summary of the Banquet from “A MINI Vacation in Vegas” 2009 (a.k.a. “AMVIV”). See the full version and more AMVIV clips at WhiteRoofRadio.tv and BehindTheVroom.com.
I should be packing, but instead, I’m writing! The Behind The Vroom crew will be heading out to AMVIV, “A MINI Vacation In Vegas”, in less than twelve hours! As the premiere MINI Cooper event of the year (sorry ‘Dragon), AMVIV gets more interesting every year. In addition to 500+ MINI Coopers, over a dozen vendors, both a driving school and autocross event, the big change this year is a more official-esque car show, a big step from the Boot-and-Bonnet Show/popularity contest of years prior.
Over 500 MINI Coopers will dominate the Palace Station parking garage for AMVIV 2009
While the B-n-B will continue (I mean, who wouldn’t want to look at the sheer spectacle of 500 plus MINI Coopers, and no two alike!), this year the AMVIV “Show & Shine” show will be held at SAFE House in Henderson with its associated entry fee and prizes held to benefit the SAFE House charity. The show will be judged this year instead of completely popular vote. There will be a small, tax-deductible entry fee paid directly to SAFE House for each MINI entered into the contest. There will be no charge to come and look at the cars, and the Poker Run will end there, so come on down!
In addition to a variety of interviews with vendors, attendees, and perhaps with the elusive Mr. Cone, we’re hoping to photo-blog the entire weekend here on Behind The Vroom. That is, if the php-gods will allow it! For those heading out to AMVIV or already there, hit us up and say hello. For those who arent? Well… you’re missin’ out yo!
Once again Behind The Vroom will be at A MINI VACATION IN VEGAS(“AMVIV”), March 26-29, 2009. (www.amviv.com)
We are working on some cool stuff including grabbing lots of video, interviews, and a few surprises for your enjoyment! This year Behind The Vroom will be partnering with the world famous White Roof Radio for tandem coverage of the event. For those of you that aren’t going to make it, videos will be available atWhiteRoof.tv, So, get over there and get subscribed!
“What’s an AMVIV?” you ask? Why, only the largest gathering of Mini and MINI Cooper enthusiasts this side of the Mississippi! (I kinda made that up, but it’s probably true!) Hosted by the Sin City Mini Club and housed at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, AMVIV is a can’t-miss weekend of cool cars, cool people, exciting “runs” and related events, located in the heart of “America’s Playground”, Las Vegas, Nevada. Who can resist?!?
For those who will be attending, don’t be afraid to come up and say hello- we love that kinda stuff! See you there!

The Motorkult TV cast/crew have safely returned from AMVIV – “A MINI Vacation in Vegas”! We had one heck of a time. Aside from it being Las Vegas (you know what they say about what happens in Las Vegas), we actually got a lot of work done too!
Day One (Thursday) While half the Motorkult TV staff were scheduled to fly in, for the rest, “day one” was spent primarily on the road. We pulled into the Palace Station Hotel parking lot at about 12pm and there were already about 180 MINIs parked on the first and second levels of the parking garage. We checked in, went to lunch, met a few friends and made some new ones. Night fell, and there are rumors of many parties, but we won’t talk about that.
Day Two (Friday) We picked up Joan at the airport first thing in the morning on Friday. It was too early to officially check-in, but did the “pre- check in” (who knew), sat some stuff down and headed straight for the Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada.
Skipping the drama called perpetual construction, we finally got to the track and checked everything out. There was a driving school as well the North American MINI Cooper Challenge and many spectators. We talked to some folks, looked at some really souped up cars, and got a really good interview with Jerry Bradbury, who is now racing in US TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP Series. But you’ll have to watch the video for all of that!
Day Three (Saturday) Saturday was spent on what was now spilling over to 3 floors of MINI only, reserved parking at a Las Vegas hotel and casino. You don’t see that everyday! We did more interviews including a peek at some new products from M7 Tuning, which was unveiled publicly for the first time at AMVIV.
Overall, it was quite a blast. And of course, we can’t forget to give a special shout-out and thank you to the literally hundreds of Motorkult TV fans we met at this event. We will most certainly be returning in 2009!
As you can see, we got some good coverage of the three-day event and secured some excellent interviews for you all. Episodes should be posting very soon so keep your eyes peeled to the website and/or RSS feed.
